Dutchess ARC is a not for profit agency with a chapter affiliation to the New York State ARC, or NYSARC, Inc.. We have been serving children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families in Dutchess County since 1971.

We offer a full range of services including Service Coordination, Recreation & Youth Services, Guardianship & Consultation Services, Employment Services, Transitional - School to Work Services, Day Services, Family Resources & Educational Advocacy Services, Residential Services, and Clinical Services.
Developmental disabilities are a diverse group of physical, cognitive, psychological, sensory, and speech impairments that begin anytime during development up to 22 years of age, are often severe, and are likely to continue indefinitely. Developmental disabilities can involve mental or physical impairments, or both. In most instances, the cause of the disability is not known.

There are five major types of developmental disabilities:
• Mental Retardation
• Autism
• Cerebral Palsy
• Epilepsy
• Other Neurological Impairments, including head injury, learning disabilities, narcolepsy, spina bifida, Praeder-Willi Syndrome, Tourette Syndrome

Dutchess ARC's mission is to challenge and empower people with developmental disabilities, their families, and staff to achieve personal fulfillment through lifelong learning.
