Celebration of Stars Awards Ceremony 2010

Dutchess ARC Foundation's Celebration of Stars was held on October 28, 2010 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel.  The "stars" of our community and Dutchess ARC were honored.  Albert "Danny" DeVito, Jr. was awarded the Frank Pessia Memorial Award; Anne Clarke was awarded the Mimi Stambrook Award; Joe Bonura, Sr. was awarded the Bessie Payne Humanitarian Award; Ruth Bunn was awarded the Katz Volunteer Award, and Antoinette Longo was awarded the Kenny Dixon Spirit Award.

Dutchess ARC Foundation's First Annual Snow Ball 2010

Dutchess ARC Foundation’s First Annual Snow Ball, was held January 27, 2010 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. Dutchess County attorney and Walkway Over the Hudson Board Chairman Fred Schaeffer was honored with the Catherine Seeberger Citizenship Award.

We honored Fred Schaeffer in memory of another Dutchess County visionary, Catherine “Kay” Seeberger. In the late 1950s, Kay Seeberger, a teacher and lifelong resident, joined with a dedicated group of special education teachers and parents concerned for their children. These visionaries challenged society’s traditional disregard for children with developmental disabilities, taking steps toward creation of Dutchess ARC.

As agency co-founder, Seeberger’s impact on the lives of thousands of children and their families continues today. Since Dutchess ARC’s formation in 1971 as a not-for-profit agency and chapter of NYSARC Inc., thousands of people with developmental disabilities have accessed true citizenship. Dutchess ARC is now one of the largest and most respected providers of services to people with developmental disabilities.
